Rockie Mountain Repertory Company

Rockie Mountain Rep - an accomplished theatre company

(Pictures to be added soon)

When planning our two week trip around Colorado, I wanted to find a few events I could book up on the way. One thing I found we could do was at the town of Great Lake, Colorado. Here is located the Rockie Mountain Repertory Company.

About Great Lake

Great Lake – the lake itself as well as the town of Great Lake on its banks - is situated to the west side of Rockie Mountains National Park. This would be a lovely park to visit on our round trip. We could drive through and stay in Great Lake on the same leg of the trip.

Rockie Mountains National Park is a hour or two from Denver. We could incorporate it either at the start or at the end of our round trip.

The Rockie Mountain Repertory Company Show

The Rockie Mountain Repertory Company were putting on several shows during this time. The one I booked fitted in with being our last stop on the 'round tour' before returning for our last night in Denver. The show was “All Shook Up” - a Broadway show, with an amusing story connected together by Elvis Presley songs.

The show was brilliant: I don't know where else you could possibly see such a great quality show in such an intimate setting.

The Rockie Mountain Repertory Company

The Rockie Mountain Repertory Company is is a fairly small local theatre company widely supported by the community. At the time we were there they were performing in a small theatre which formed a part of the Great Lake Town Hall. This has clearly been great for them – but they have no backstage or changing rooms. So, thanks to help from local benefactors, they are to build a $1.3m theatre in Great Lake ready for 2012.

Great Lake

Great Lake itself is a lovely town. It is small, in a beautiful setting, and has a real community feel. I strongly recommend it for a few days' stay. And certainly incorporate a visit to the Rockie Mountain Repertory Company.
